Our stories start with an idea, a concept, a childhood dream – a narrative of adventure brought to life by South Africa’s best animation specialists, visual artists, and developers.
Our streamlined production pipeline transforms creative aspiration into awe-inspiring CG worlds and characters. At the heart of Triggerfish are the five key partners. Each one has his unique strengths and between them they have helped shape Triggerfish into a world-class studio.
STUART FORREST - CEO
Stuart is a producer on Adventures in Zambezia and Khumba, as well as one of the entrepreneurs behind Triggerfish.
Stuart was named one of 100 world-class South Africans by City Press and one of Africa’s Top 20 Tech Influencers by IT News Africa. Stuart was a finalist for the 2012 Sanlam/ Business Partners Entrepreneur of the Year Award, winning Innovator of the Year. He has repeatedly been a judge for the International Emmy Awards and has spoken at conferences around the world, including South Africa, New Zealand and at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Stuart has a BTech Fine Art (cum laude) from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. In true start-up fashion, Stuart used to run Triggerfish from his kitchen and created stop-frame animation for Sesame Street in his living-room.
MIKE BUCKLAND - HEAD OF PRODUCTION
Mike has over 20 years experience in CG animation, from commercials and short form entertainment to full length feature film productions such as Adventures in Zambezia and Khumba. He is a producer on Khumba and has been a member of the Triggerfish leadership since 2006.
His broad background in all aspects of the CG production process has enabled him to structure the crew and develop the pipelines necessary to facilitate the animation process at Triggerfish.
JAMES MIDDLETON - COO
James has over 20 years of technical experience and is a producer on Adventures in Zambezia and Khumba. He is a Triggerfish co-founder and entrepreneur. He is the owner of Broadcast Operations, a company that provides live broadcast and satellite services for sports and news events, including the 2010 World Cup.
He was the founder of post-production facility, HDHUB, where he provided technical project supervision for feature film and television projects, including District 9, Meerkats and Faith Like Potatoes. He has a deep background in broadcast engineering and project management, working for the BBC, ABC and Globecast.
James has travelled to over 40 countries and is a connoisseur of in-flight meals.
ANTHONY SILVERSTON - HEAD OF DEVELOPMENT
Anthony is the director and co-writer of Khumba, which premiered in competition at the Annecy International Animation Festival in 2013. He was also one of the writers and producers of Adventures in Zambezia. He completed three independent stop-motion shorts, one of which, The Slipper Cycle, won Best Independent Animation at The Independents’ Film Festival in Florida.
Anthony was selected to be on the jury of the prestigious animation festival in Annecy in 2014 and has been a judge for the International Emmy Awards. In June 2015, Animation Magazine named Anthony as one of 25 Global Creatives to Watch.
He has a BSc (Hons) from the University of Cape Town, which has come in handy less and less over the years.
